Telegram, a popular messaging application, has introduced a built-in cryptocurrency wallet feature, streamlining access to users’ digital currency holdings.
Users familiar with the @wallet bot will now find a dedicated crypto wallet section within their Telegram menu, simplifying cryptocurrency management within the app.
This announcement coincided with the TOKEN2049 conference, where Telegram and the TON Foundation publicly unveiled their collaborative efforts.
During the conference, Telegram and the TON Foundation outlined their joint objectives:
The @wallet integration will serve as a gateway for approximately 800 million Telegram users worldwide, excluding the United States. This comprehensive feature will roll out fully starting in November.
As part of the partnership, Telegram has committed to providing TON projects and their affiliated partners with privileged access to its advertising platform.
TON has set an ambitious goal of engaging with 30% of Telegram’s user base by 2028.
The formal announcement of this partnership at the TOKEN2049 conference garnered significant attention, with the presentation and event photos generating further excitement. By incorporating the @wallet directly into the app’s menu, Telegram aims to democratize cryptocurrency access for its extensive user base, with the exception of those in the United States.
This collaboration also signifies Telegram’s deepening partnership with the TON Foundation.
Telegram’s association with TON extends beyond the cryptocurrency wallet. Notably, the company has given priority to TON projects on its advertising platform, underscoring the depth of their collaboration. TON’s objective is to attract 30% of Telegram’s active users over the next five years, and this partnership is poised to revolutionize the integration of messaging platforms and cryptocurrencies.
