Bulgarian authorities have made a significant discovery, uncovering a cache of weapons believed to be linked to four suspected members of Hamas.
These individuals had previously been apprehended on suspicion of planning an attack on Jewish targets across Europe, as reported by the Telegraph on Thursday.
The suspects, who were arrested in Germany and the Netherlands in December 2023, were allegedly stockpiling weapons with the intention of utilizing them in future terrorist activities, according to German prosecutors. Following a lead from images found on a cellphone belonging to one of the suspects, depicting handguns and ammunition, investigators successfully located the cache of weapons in Bulgaria.
Described as “old members of Hamas” by German authorities, the four suspects hail from Egypt, Lebanon (two individuals), and the Netherlands. German officials stated that the weapons were intended to be transported to Berlin and kept on standby for potential terrorist attacks targeting Jewish institutions throughout Europe.
This revelation underscores the ongoing concerns surrounding potential terrorist activities on European soil and the persistent threat posed by extremist groups like Hamas. The discovery of the weapons cache serves as a stark reminder of the importance of continued vigilance and international cooperation in combating terrorism and safeguarding public safety.
