The General Manager of the “Joana’s Hope” initiative, dedicated to caring for children with cancer, stated that they have received news of the death of several children with cancer due to the cessation of treatment centers.
Mohamed Al-Amin Fadlallah explained to Tamazuj Radio that the initiative was sponsoring 485 children with cancer following the events in Al-Jazirah State. However, they were subsequently dispersed to safe states, and some returned to their families.
He said that since the beginning of the war in April last year, the initiative has transported children to the “Joana’s Hope” resthouse in Wad Madani city, where some of them continued to receive treatment.
He indicated that children are facing difficulties due to the lack of treatment centers after the Rapid Support Forces took control of Wad Madani city, and that the only center currently providing treatment is located in Marawi city.
He added, “We are currently preparing a resthouse in Marawi to provide services, and we hope for financial and scientific support from qualified individuals.”
He stated that the current situation would have dire consequences for sick children.
As the Executive Director of the “We are All Values” organization, which operates the “Joana’s Hope” initiative, the organization lost over $500,000 due to the war in Khartoum, and they lost assets and services in Madani city.
The Sudan Organization for Pediatric Cancer had warned in a statement that more than 200 children with cancer are at risk of death due to the interruption of medicines, requiring urgent intervention to provide medicines worth $50,000.
The organization stated that children in Marawi city, north Sudan, need suitable accommodation, healthy food, and transportation from accommodation to the treatment center.
