Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Ali Al-Sadiq, has stated that the main cause of the ongoing war in Sudan is the refusal of the Rapid Support Forces’ leader to integrate his troops into the Sudanese Army to form a unified military.
Despite the war being imposed on it, the Sudanese government remains committed to peaceful negotiations and is open to all platforms and initiatives.
Speaking at the third session of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, organized by the Turkish government from March 1st to 3rd, the Minister highlighted that the Rapid Support Forces’ failure to adhere to the terms of the Jeddah Agreement was a primary reason for the lack of progress in these discussions.
Additionally, foreign interventions in African forums have been a key factor in their failure, with the Sudanese government refusing to engage due to a lack of neutrality.
This assertion by the Sudanese Foreign Minister underscores the complexities of achieving peace in the region, pointing to internal military integration issues and external influences as significant obstacles.
The situation calls for a nuanced approach to diplomatic engagement and conflict resolution in Sudan.
