Sudanese Customs Forces Thwart Largest Gold Smuggling Operation

Customs forces in the city of Suakin have thwarted the most dangerous gold smuggling operation, consisting of four kilograms of pure gold en route out of the country.

Brigadier Police Hashim Al-Nur, Director General of Customs Forces, praised the significant achievement and the qualitative seizure, affirming plans to introduce modern detection devices and technologies at several border crossings and seaports in the near future to modernize customs work and tighten control over all entry points.

It is worth noting that Brigadier General Hashim Al-Nur, Director General of Customs Forces, stood this morning at the Osman Digna Port in the city of Suakin to thwart an attempt to smuggle approximately four kilograms of gold.

Colonel Essam Ahmed Ali Oushik, Director of the Osman Digna Customs Department, explained that the seizure was made following close monitoring and vigilance by customs personnel.

One passenger was apprehended in the departure lounge concealing nine gold ingots weighing approximately four kilograms, valued at around 440 million Sudanese pounds.

Legal measures have been taken against the suspect, reaffirming their continuous efforts and further endeavors to protect the economy and combat smuggling.
