Sudan and Qatar have agreed to establish a gold refinery in Doha to process gold exports from Sudan, according to an announcement by the Sudan News Agency (SUNA).

The agreement came during a meeting between Sudanese Minister of Trade and Supply, Al-Fateh Abdullah Yusuf, and his Qatari counterpart, Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim al-Abdullah al-Thani.

This meeting occurred on the sidelines of the third Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum with Asian countries and Azerbaijan, which was held in Qatar on April 29 and 30.

The ministers highlighted the importance of their nations’ collaboration in the trade sector and discussed ways to enhance their partnership to streamline import and export processes.

The Qatari Minister of Trade and Industry expressed his country’s readiness to provide the necessary facilities for commercial activities, emphasizing the forum’s role in fostering close relationships and exploring new cooperation and development opportunities.
