Sudan’s Sovereign Council President Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has pledged a severe response to what he described as “crimes” committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against the residents of Wad Al-Noura village in the Al-Jazirah state, central Sudan.
According to the Sovereign Council’s media, Al-Burhan emphasized that there would be “no negotiation or sitting with the militia’s supporters from the Coordination of Progressive and the Forces of Freedom and Change.”
Al-Burhan further stated, “We have documented videos proving the involvement of Yusuf Ezzat and his attempt to record eight statements for radio and five for television to announce a takeover of power. These will soon be presented to the public.”
Wad Al-Noura village in the Al-Jazirah state witnessed a massive displacement after an attack allegedly carried out by the RSF from three directions yesterday.
The spokesperson for the Sudanese Popular Resistance, Ammar Hassan, told the Arab World News Agency that the RSF’s assault on Wad Al-Noura resulted in the deaths of more than 154 people and caused many to flee.
Fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF erupted unexpectedly in mid-April 2023 after weeks of escalating tensions between the two sides, as military and civilian parties were finalizing a politically backed international process.
Images and videos emerging from the village of Wad al-Noura in Al-Jazirah state have dominated social media conversations among Sudanese users over the past few hours.
On Thursday, horrifying footage of dozens of bodies lined up for burial surfaced online, following the Sudanese Sovereignty Council’s confirmation of a “massacre” against civilians in the village.
More than 200 people were killed in an attack carried out by the RSF in Al-Jazira State in central Sudan, and the attack sparked a widespread wave of denunciation and denunciation from various Sudanese parties.
