The Houthi-controlled Saba news agency reported on Tuesday morning that a number of female students from Al-Jund School in the Taiz Directorate, Taiz Governorate, were killed and injured due to a raid conducted by American and British aircraft. A local source told the agency that the American and British aircraft launched a raid on the Taiz Directorate, resulting in the death and injury of several students from Al-Jund School.
Earlier, Yahya Saree, the military spokesman for the Houthi group in Yemen, stated that the group’s air defenses had shot down an American MQ-9 drone while it was conducting hostile operations in the skies of Saada Governorate. He added in a post on his official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) page on Tuesday morning that this was the ninth drone of this type that the group had successfully downed in support of Gaza.
Last Saturday evening, the Houthis announced the downing of another American MQ-9 drone while it was on a military mission in the skies of Marib Governorate, eastern Yemen. They confirmed in a statement that they would continue to enhance their defensive capabilities and target American and British military movements in the maritime operations area.
The Houthi group targets shipping vessels using drones and missiles as part of a campaign they believe supports the Palestinians in Gaza; this is in response to continued American and British support for Israeli aggression.
