Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez renewed his call for an immediate end to the war in Gaza and emphasized the importance of a two-state solution following talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Madrid. Sanchez reiterated Spain’s commitment to establishing a Palestinian state alongside Israel and called for international efforts to end the conflict.
Sanchez condemned the ongoing violence, highlighting the suffering of innocent civilians, particularly women and children. He also expressed concern about the conflict spreading to Lebanon, where explosions involving communication devices killed over 37 people and injured thousands.
In the joint press conference, Sanchez urged Israel to end its occupation of Palestinian territories in the West Bank and withdraw troops from Gaza to pave the way for a peace process. Abbas thanked Sanchez for his continued support and called for a peace conference in Madrid, reaffirming his commitment to the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The two leaders also discussed strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation across various fields.
