South Korea has pledged a resolute response to any provocations from North Korea directed towards Seoul, emphasizing that attempts to escalate tensions on the Korean Peninsula would ultimately be detrimental to the North Korean regime.

The commitment follows North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s recent statement threatening to annihilate South Korea in the event of any military action against the North.

According to the South Korean Yonhap News Agency’s report on Wednesday, a South Korean Foreign Ministry official dismissed Kim Jong Un’s remarks as mere rhetoric, characterizing them as a play on words.

The official highlighted the discrepancy in the North Korean leader’s statements, suggesting that Kim Jong Un assumed Seoul’s use of force against the North, despite South Korea not having initiated any such actions.

In response to the heightened rhetoric, South Korea remains vigilant and steadfast, asserting its commitment to maintaining stability on the Korean Peninsula while cautioning against provocative actions that could escalate tensions in the region.
