The Libyan Government-designate has announced a delay in the start of the new academic year, pushing the opening date to September 29, 2024.

The school year was originally set to begin on September 1.

The decision was made following directives from Prime Minister Osama Hmmad, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Education.

The delay is attributed to the ongoing renovations in educational institutions, managed by the Reconstruction and Development Fund.

The ministry noted that several regional education authorities had requested the postponement to ensure that all schools can complete necessary repairs before welcoming students back.

This measure is aimed at guaranteeing a safe and conducive learning environment for the upcoming academic year.
