On Tuesday, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan emphasized the Kingdom’s call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, highlighting the high cost of the conflict and the need for a lasting solution that respects the rights and dignity of all parties.
Speaking remotely at the annual Gulf Research Center conference at the University of Cambridge in the UK, Prince Faisal stated that Saudi Arabia aims to build bridges of understanding and solidarity that transcend divisions and borders, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and the need to avoid causes of regional instability.
He noted the current global climate of uncertainty and turmoil, stressing the necessity for the rules-based international order to withstand chaos and conflict, providing a framework for cooperation and peaceful coexistence among nations.
Prince Faisal reaffirmed the importance of adhering to the principles of international law, mutual respect, and peaceful conflict resolution, calling for the avoidance of actions that harm the region.
He underscored that the expansion of conflict negatively impacts prosperity and progress, urging restraint and caution against being drawn into such conflicts.
The Saudi Foreign Minister also reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering an environment of growth, innovation, and prosperity for all countries in the region and beyond.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, Prince Faisal emphasized the importance of establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, stating that the ongoing bloodshed in Gaza is a stark reminder of the high cost of the conflict and the urgent need for a permanent solution that safeguards the rights and dignity of all involved.
He called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and renewed commitment to dialogue and negotiations based on principles of justice, equality, and mutual respect.
