The Saudi Embassy in Cairo announced that it received a report from the Egyptian authorities indicating the discovery of a body believed to be that of the missing citizen, Hattan Shatla, who disappeared during his presence in Cairo since last April.
The embassy stated in a statement via the “Ekhbariya” platform: “A DNA sample was taken to confirm the suspicion, and the result matched the citizen with no criminal aspect to his death.”
It added that it extends its “deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the family of the deceased,” also expressing its “appreciation to the Egyptian authorities for their diligent efforts to uncover the circumstances of this incident.”
It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian Ministry of Interior said in a previous statement on Facebook: “Regarding the report received from the family of one of the Saudi citizens about his absence from his residence in Cairo, leaving all his personal belongings, search efforts resulted in finding the body of the missing person.”
The statement added that “investigations and medical examinations confirmed the absence of any criminal suspicion regarding his death, which resulted from the consequences of his medical condition.”
The ministry’s statement indicated that “legal procedures were taken and the deceased’s brother and the Saudi Embassy in the country were briefed on the details of the search procedures.”
