The Saudi Basketball Federation announced on Thursday that it will host the 2025 Asian Basketball Championship for Men in Jeddah. This will be the second time Saudi Arabia hosts this prestigious continental event, with the last occasion being in 1997 in Riyadh, where South Korea clinched the title.

Hagop Khajirian, the Executive Director of the FIBA Asian Office, remarked that the next two years will be exciting for basketball in the Kingdom, especially considering the country’s recent progress. He praised Saudi Arabia’s sports growth and stated that the return of the Asian Basketball Cup to Saudi Arabia after nearly three decades signifies the Kingdom’s commitment to basketball development and passion for the sport.

Ghassan Tashkandi, President of the Saudi Basketball Federation, expressed that hosting the Asian basketball event is in line with the Kingdom’s strategy of organizing international events across various sectors. He believes that hosting prestigious sports events like the Asian Basketball Cup provides an opportunity to develop sports in the Kingdom and showcase their basketball ambitions for the future.

The main event in Asia returns to the Gulf region, reflecting the continuous growth of basketball in the area.
