The General Supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, signed four joint cooperation agreements today with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the World Health Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the World Food Programme to provide relief to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, with a total value of 150 million Saudi Riyals $40 million).
These agreements are part of the humanitarian and relief projects provided by Saudi Arabia through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid, in cooperation with international humanitarian organizations, to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
This reaffirms Saudi Arabia’s commitment to extending a helping hand to its sisterly and friendly countries during various crises and challenges.
As part of the agreement signed today, the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid will fund UNRWA’s activities in the sectors of food, shelter, water, and environmental sanitation in Gaza.
The agreement was signed by Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, General Supervisor of the Center, and Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of UNRWA, in Cairo, Egypt.
Under this agreement, ready-to-eat meals will be provided in the food security sector, blankets and bedding will be distributed in the shelter sector, and medicines and medical staff will be provided in 97 UNRWA facilities in Gaza for emergency medical services.
The agreement also ensures the physical and mental well-being of residents and displaced persons within the region. In addition, personal care kits and hygiene materials will be distributed to shelter centers in the sector, with a total value exceeding 56 million Saudi Riyals.
Furthermore, the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid signed an agreement today with the World Food Programme to support the emergency response to provide food for Palestinian refugees in Gaza.
This agreement was signed by Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah and Corinne Fleischer, the Regional Director of the World Food Programme for the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, and Eastern Europe, in Cairo, Egypt.
The aim of this agreement is to meet the food and nutritional needs of Palestinian brothers and sisters in Gaza through the distribution of hot meals and food baskets to beneficiaries, at a total cost of 18,750,000 Saudi Riyals.
In addition, the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid signed an agreement today for joint cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to respond urgently to the humanitarian appeal for the relief of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, General Supervisor of the Center, and Alfonso Verdú Pérez, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Egypt, in Cairo, Egypt.
Under this agreement, support will be provided to hospitals in Gaza, medical teams will be brought in, and the care of the wounded and burn cases will be ensured, along with the provision of their supplies.
Intensive care supplies will also be provided. Ambulances and their supplies will be made available, water purification and access to clean drinking water will be facilitated, and awareness of the risks of explosive remnants will be raised.
The total value of this agreement is 37,500,000 Saudi Riyals.
