Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Kharif, the Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Wealth inaugurated three new manufacturing facilities in the sectors of pharmaceuticals and food in Sudair City for Industry and Business.
Notably, this included the first-ever factory in the Kingdom dedicated to producing oncology medicines and highly toxic drugs of various types.
The minister inaugurated the “Sudair Pharmaceuticals Company” factory, heralded as the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia, specializing in the production of cancer and high-toxicity medicines.
In addition to this groundbreaking facility, the General Pharmaceuticals Speciality factory was also launched, with investments exceeding 277 million Riyals and spanning an impressive area of 77,000 square meters.
In a similarly significant move towards bolstering the nation’s food industry, the “Gulf Food Supplies” factory was opened, encompassing an area of over 95,000 square meters with investments nearing 236 million Riyals.
These newly inaugurated factories aim not only to cater to domestic needs but also to amplify export volumes to regional and global markets, boosting Saudi Arabia’s economic footprint internationally.
Sudhir City for Industry and Business, established in 2009, occupies a staggering 64 million square meters, of which 16.9 million square meters are developed.
It hosts 350 factories in various sectors including food, pharmaceutical, and medical industries, in addition to transformative industries, computer manufacturing, electronic and optical products, basic metal industries, electrical equipment, chemicals and their products, rubber and plastic industries, other non-metallic mineral products, shaped metal products, and the production of building materials, ceramics, and glass.
This pivotal moment underscores Saudi Arabia’s substantial progress in its industrial and economic sectors, aligning with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to diversify its economy, with particular attention to the growth of the manufacturing sector.
By investing in such impactful and large-scale projects, the nation makes headway toward becoming a pivotal player in the global pharmaceutical and food industry.
