Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock held discussions on Thursday regarding the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Baerbock, visiting the region, met with Prince Faisal in Riyadh to exchange views on the Gaza situation and explore efforts to address it, according to the Saudi foreign ministry.
The two leaders also focused on enhancing bilateral relations and increasing cooperation on both bilateral and multilateral fronts, particularly on issues of common interest.
Baerbock’s diplomatic visit comes amid ongoing efforts to negotiate a resolution between Israel and Hamas to end the conflict in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is under pressure to agree to a cease-fire following the recovery of six killed hostages from a Gaza tunnel.
During her trip, Baerbock is expected to meet Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, then travel to Israel to meet with Foreign Minister Israel Katz, and finally visit the West Bank for talks with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa to address the rising tensions there.
