During the third week of April, the Saudi Arabian King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre’s (MASAM) project successfully cleared 857 landmines planted indiscriminately across various regions of Yemen.
These mines pose grave threats to innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly. The total number of mines removed since the project’s inception has now reached 437,616.
In just seven days, MASAM teams removed 148 unexploded ordnances in Aden province and 164 in Al Khokha district, Hodeidah province.
Additionally, the teams cleared 70 anti-tank mines and 418 unexploded ordnances in Marib district.
In Taiz province, 43 unexploded ordnances were cleared in the Al Mocha district, along with 5 anti-tank mines and 5 unexploded ordnances in the Dhubab district.
One unexploded ordnance was also removed in Al Mandab district. In Lahj province’s Tuban district, 3 unexploded ordnances were cleared.
The total number of mines cleared in April has now risen to 1,240, marking significant progress in efforts to eliminate these deadly hazards from Yemeni territory.
