During his address to the 78th UN General Assembly in New York, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, emphasized the need for peaceful resolutions to various global crises. In his speech, Prince Faisal expressed Saudi Arabia’s support for calls advocating the complete withdrawal of all foreign forces from Libya.
Prince Faisal highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting security, stability, and the preservation of Libya’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. He also stressed the importance of halting external interference in Libya’s internal affairs.
The ongoing conflict in Libya, which has persisted since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime in 2011, has led to a power struggle between two competing governments. One is led by Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah in the west, while the other, backed by Marshal Khalifa Haftar, operates in the eastern part of the country.
Saudi Arabia’s call for the withdrawal of foreign forces in Libya underscores the international community’s interest in achieving stability and a peaceful resolution to the longstanding conflict in the nation.
