Saudi State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Climate Envoy, Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, talked with Bahrain’s Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Dinah, to explore relations between the two neighboring countries.
They also delved into environmental and climate-related topics, focusing on the collaborative efforts being made in these areas.
As reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Thursday, the meeting was held on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York City.
Al-Jubeir also met with the Dutch Climate Envoy, Prince Jaime de Bourbon, the Foreign Minister and Minister of Oil and Environment of the Republic of Suriname, Albert Ramdin, and the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Colombia, Álvaro Leyva Duran.
Their discussions revolved around ways to strengthen mutual cooperation, address regional and global issues of mutual interest, and bolster efforts to combat climate change and mitigate its impacts.
The UN reiterated that the wide-ranging impact of the climate crisis is already apparent, with global greenhouse gas emissions still at record levels.
The world needs immediate and profound emissions reductions from now and over the next three decades to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, preventing the worst consequences.
The summit aims to accelerate efforts to reduce emissions from all parties, including governments, businesses, and civil society.
