King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia issued two royal decrees on Monday to restructure the Senior Scholars Council and the Shura Council.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Senior Scholars Council will be reconstituted starting from 1/3/1446 AH (Islamic calendar), with Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Sheikh, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, serving as its president, alongside 20 other members.
Additionally, a royal decree has established the new Shura Council, chaired by Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, with Dr. Mishaal bin Fahm bin Muhammad Al-Salami as the Deputy Chairman and Dr. Hanan bint Abdulrahim bin Mutlaq Al-Ahmadi as the Assistant Chairman. The council will also include 148 members and will serve a four-year term starting from 3/3/1446 AH.
These appointments reflect the kingdom’s ongoing efforts to ensure effective governance and advisory roles within its key institutional bodies.
