Natalia Gumenyuk, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Armed Forces Southern Command, stated today that the naval station in Odesa, Ukraine, has been “effectively destroyed” following explosions last night.

Additionally, one grain silo was damaged in the incident.

Ukrainian media reported five chains of explosions in Odesa and two in the city of Kryvyi Rih last night. The alert status was raised due to potential airstrikes in the Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

According to Russia’s news agency RIA Novosti, Gumenyuk, speaking on the Rada TV channel, mentioned that explosions occurred in the port’s infrastructure, including a grain storage facility, and that “the naval station has been effectively destroyed.”

On the other hand, Sergei Lesiak, the head of the regional administration in Dnipropetrovsk, reported that after the nighttime explosions, a fire broke out at an industrial facility in Kryvyi Rih city.

Since October 10th of the previous year, the Russian army has been regularly targeting Ukraine’s defense industry, military leadership, energy facilities, and communication infrastructure.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that this was in response to a Ukrainian attack on the bridge connecting the Crimean Peninsula and other assaults on Russian infrastructure.

Since then, air raid sirens have been sounding daily in Ukrainian regions and sometimes throughout the country, signifying ongoing hostilities.
