In a statement that underscores growing international concern, Russian Ambassador to Tel Aviv, Anatoly Viktorov, has voiced serious apprehensions regarding the actions of Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip.
Viktorov emphasized that the civilian casualties resulting from these operations are indefensible and cause for significant alarm.
Highlighting key points from his address, Viktorov pointed out the contradiction between Israeli calls for Gaza residents to move from the north to the south and the actual on-ground military operations.
He criticized Israel’s approach as excessively harsh, showing a disregard for the severe civilian losses incurred.
The Ambassador also acknowledged the role of Qatari diplomats in facilitating the evacuation of Russian nationals from Gaza. He expressed gratitude towards Palestine, Israel, and Egypt for their assistance in this evacuation effort.
The situation at the Rafah Crossing, a critical point for the exit of Russian citizens, remains precarious due to the ongoing dangerous conditions.
Viktorov raised concerns about the potential escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the region, noting that it poses a substantial risk.
He commented on the inadequacy of current aid entering Gaza amid these catastrophic conditions, stating that it falls short in addressing the dire humanitarian crisis.
The Ambassador stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire and a serious approach to resolving the humanitarian issues plaguing the Gaza Strip.
