Cairo News Channel reported that Russia is threatening to cut ties with the United States if it seizes its frozen assets.

The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Moscow could soon take political action in response to the United States’ deployment of missiles in Europe and Asia-Pacific.

The threat comes amid growing tensions between the two countries over the war in Ukraine. The United States and its allies have imposed a series of sanctions on Russia, including freezing assets of the Russian government and oligarchs.

Russia has said that the sanctions are illegal and that it will take retaliatory measures. The Foreign Ministry statement said that Russia “reserves the right to take appropriate retaliatory measures to protect its national interests.”

The statement also said that Russia is “open to dialogue” with the United States, but that it will not tolerate “unilateral actions that violate international law.”

The threat of a Russia-US break-up would be a major escalation of the conflict between the two countries. It would also have a significant impact on the global economy.
