Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Libyan Deputy Presidential Council Head Abdullah Al-Lafi and the caretaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office in Libya’s Government of National Unity, Taher El-Baour.
The meeting, which took place in Moscow, underscored Russia’s commitment to continue assisting Libya in stabilizing the region.
According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, the discussions emphasized the importance of inclusive national dialogue aimed at maintaining Libya’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The statement highlighted Russia’s dedication to facilitating an ongoing political process in Libya, with the United Nations (UN) playing a pivotal role.
Both parties expressed mutual interest in enhancing multifaceted cooperation, benefiting both nations. It was noted that resuming activities of the joint Russian-Libyan committee for trade, economic, and scientific-technical cooperation could play a key role as the primary coordination mechanism in these areas.
Additionally, special consultations were held between Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian President’s Special Envoy to the Middle East and Africa, and the Libyan delegation.
These discussions focused on the current situation in Libya and the broader Middle East and North Africa region, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and support Libya’s journey towards stability and prosperity.
The National Oil Corporation (NOC) of Libya resumed operations at nine oil wells that were previously closed after necessary maintenance work.
In a statement, the NOC reported that technical teams from the Arabian Gulf Oil Company successfully conducted precise and vital repairs, resulting in the reopening of nine wells in the Serir oil field.
These wells collectively produce approximately 4,000 barrels of crude oil daily, aligning with the corporation’s plan to increase production.
The repairs included fixing faults in the high-voltage electrical network supplying four previously inactive wells, repairing leaks in the flow lines of four other wells, and completing the electrical and mechanical connection of another well.
