The New Administrative Capital of Egypt hosted the inauguration ceremony of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for a third term, where he took the constitutional oath in the new House of Representatives today, Tuesday. President Sisi’s new term, starting from April 3rd, will extend for six years.

The Egyptian House of Representatives, led by Counselor Hanafy Gebaly, convened to inaugurate President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for a third presidential term.

Inauguration Ceremony Details
Upon his arrival at the parliament building in the New Administrative Capital, President Sisi was welcomed by the Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives, Counselor Hanafy Gebaly, along with the council’s deputies, Counselor Ahmed Saad and Deputy Mohamed Abou El-Enein. The Egyptian national anthem was played, and a 21-gun salute was fired in honor of President Sisi, marking the beginning of the inauguration ceremony attended by top Egyptian state officials.

The session started with the Speaker reading the letter from the National Elections Authority declaring President Sisi’s win for a new term.

Oath Taking
President Sisi took the constitutionally stipulated oath for his third term as President of Egypt. Article 144 of the Egyptian Constitution requires the President, before assuming office, to take an oath before the House of Representatives pledging allegiance to the republican system, respecting the constitution and the law, fully caring for the people’s interests, and maintaining the independence, unity, and territorial integrity of the country.

President Sisi’s Address
In his speech at the inauguration, President Sisi addressed the Egyptian people, covering significant issues across various domains. He emphasized the state’s aspirations during the new term, focusing on different political, economic, and security aspects both domestically and internationally. He also touched upon internal and external issues, regional and international matters, and Egypt’s vision regarding these issues and challenges.

After the ceremony, President Sisi visited the memorial monument and laid wreaths of flowers.

This marks the third time President Sisi has taken the oath as Egypt’s President, with the previous occasion being in front of the Egyptian House of Representatives in 2018 and initially in front of the General Assembly of the Supreme Constitutional Court in 2014.
