The Polish Border Guard authorities have announced the arrival of 23,800 Ukrainian refugees in Poland in the past 24 hours, fleeing the ongoing conflict in their homeland. This development was reported by Radio Poland in its English broadcast.
The report also noted that approximately 22,000 Ukrainian refugees returned to Ukraine from Poland in the same period, reflecting the dynamic and fluid nature of the current refugee situation.
Since the outbreak of the war between Russia and Ukraine in February 2022, about 18.4 million Ukrainians have sought refuge in Poland. Of these, approximately 16.6 million have since returned to Ukraine, indicating a significant rate of return among the refugee population.
Poland, in response to the refugee crisis, passed a law in March 2022 offering a support package to Ukrainian refugees.
This package includes legal residency, access to education, healthcare, and social services, showcasing Poland’s commitment to humanitarian aid and support for those affected by the conflict.
This influx of refugees and the subsequent response by Poland highlight the ongoing humanitarian challenges and the need for international cooperation in addressing the consequences of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The situation continues to evolve, with Poland playing a key role in offering refuge and assistance to those displaced by the war.
