Pentagon Secures $1.3 Billion Naval Nuclear Propulsion Contract

The United States has granted a contract exceeding $1.3 billion for nuclear propulsion projects at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory, as confirmed by the Department of Defense in an official statement.

The press release disclosed that “Fluor Marine Propulsion LLC, based in Arlington, Virginia, has been granted a $1,362,922,002 cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to a previously awarded contract for Naval Nuclear Propulsion endeavors at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory.”

This announcement was made on Friday.

The designated work will take place within the United States and is slated for completion by September 2024, according to the press release.

The Naval Sea Systems Command, located in Washington, DC, is the responsible contracting entity, as indicated in the release.

Fluor Marine Propulsion LLC, Arlington, Virginia, emerged as the recipient of this substantial contract modification.

The modification, characterized as “cost-plus-fixed-fee,” is an extension of a previously awarded contract. The focus of this contract is on Naval Nuclear Propulsion work at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory.

This development signifies a robust commitment to advancing naval propulsion technologies, which are fundamental for maintaining the readiness and effectiveness of the United States Navy.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a vital facility dedicated to researching, developing, and providing support for naval nuclear propulsion programs.
