Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas discussed with the leaders of the Palestinian Authority’s security agencies the action plan prepared by the Executive Committee to go to Gaza. This was based on the President’s initiative to stop the aggression against the Palestinian people and protect them. A few days ago, the Hebrew news site “Walla” reported that the Authority had submitted a request to “Israel” to coordinate Abbas’s visit to the sector.
The ongoing war in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, following a large-scale attack by Hamas on Israel, which led to significant casualties and the subsequent Israeli military response. This conflict has seen extensive military operations, including airstrikes and ground invasions, aimed at dismantling Hamas’ capabilities. The dense population and the complex network of tunnels in the Gaza Strip have made the conflict particularly devastating for civilians. The hostilities have continued despite various international attempts to broker peace, leading to a worsening humanitarian crisis within the region.
Over the years, intermittent conflicts have flared between Israel and Hamas, each resulting in temporary ceasefires that have seldom addressed the underlying issues, such as the blockade of Gaza and political recognition issues. The region’s geopolitical dynamics have also been influenced by broader international relations, including those involving other Middle Eastern countries and global powers like the United States.
