Following a thorough seven-month investigation, UAE Attorney-General Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi has ordered the trial of an organized criminal gang, known as the “Bahloul” gang, before the Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal’s State Security Department. The group faces charges related to crimes that threaten the state’s security, public order, and societal peace.

Public Prosecution investigations revealed that over 100 defendants were involved in forming, managing, and participating in the Bahloul gang, which is accused of engaging in illegal activities to amass illicit funds. The group allegedly distributed these proceeds among its members by exerting power and influence in their operational areas.

The gang is also accused of using social media platforms to promote their criminal activities, employing prohibited tools and weapons to instill fear in victims, with the intent of extorting money as a form of tribute. Additionally, the group faces charges of money laundering to conceal the illicit origins of their criminal proceeds.

Attorney-General Al Shamsi stressed that the Public Prosecution will enforce the law decisively against anyone who commits criminal acts or terrorizes people within the UAE. He highlighted that law enforcement authorities remain vigilant and adhere to legal procedures to maintain state security and ensure the safety of residents.

He also urged all UAE citizens and residents to report any crimes as soon as they become aware of them to prevent severe consequences.
