OpenAI is preparing to launch a marketplace for GPT-based applications, known as the GPT Store, within the next week.
According to a TechCrunch report, developers interested in listing their AI models in the store must comply with OpenAI’s revised usage policies and GPT brand guidelines.
Additionally, they need to complete their user profile verification and ensure their models are set to ‘public’.
The concept of the GPT Store was first introduced at OpenAI’s inaugural developer conference, DevDay, last year. However, its launch was postponed from December, likely due to a major organizational restructuring that took place in November.
This upheaval involved a brief removal of CEO Sam Altman by the board, followed by his reinstatement amidst concerns from investors and staff, under a newly formed board.
GPT models, which do not require programming expertise, can range from basic to advanced in complexity.
They can be tailored for various purposes, such as answering culinary queries when trained on a collection of cookbooks, or assisting developers in adhering to coding best practices by analyzing a company’s codebase.
With OpenAI’s GPT Builder, developers can specify the desired functions of their GPT in simple language, leading to the creation of an AI chatbot capable of those tasks.
While developers have been able to create and share their GPT models on the ChatGPT website since DevDay, the new store will facilitate public listings of these models.
