Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced the resignation of Oleksii Reznikov from the position of Ukrainian Defense Minister and the appointment of Rustam Amrov, the head of the State Property Fund, as his successor.

In his evening address, Zelensky stated that Reznikov “has been engaged in over 550 days of widescale warfare. I believe that the ministry needs new approaches and different forms of interaction with both the military and the community as a whole.”

Zelensky further added thst Amrov should now lead the ministry. “The Ukrainian parliament is familiar with this man. I expect the parliament to support this nomination,” he noted.

Earlier, Ukrainian parliament member Yaroslav Zelizniak had mentioned that the Ukrainian president would dismiss his defense minister Reznikov in the upcoming week.

Zelizniak, a member of the “Holos” party, wrote on the “Telegram” app, “According to my information, Reznikov will leave the position of defense minister and subsequently work as an ambassador to the United Kingdom.”

He also claimed that Amrov, who heads the State Property Fund in Ukraine and implements the government’s privatization policy while managing state properties, will take over Reznikov’s role in the Cabinet.

Zelizniak asserted that the announcement of the government transition in Ukraine will take place in the first week of September.
