Netherlands & Germany Face Severe Floods

Vast regions in the Netherlands and Germany are grappling with a significant rise in river water levels, leading to rampant floods that have inundated wide areas, according to reports.

As reported by EuroNews, various branches of the Rhine River in the Netherlands have swelled with water, causing them to overflow their banks, particularly the Ijssel River near the city of Deventer in the eastern-central Netherlands.

Civil defense personnel, aided by volunteers, have placed sandbags near areas of water inflow in an attempt to prevent flooding from reaching the city.

A similar situation unfolded in neighboring Germany, particularly in the city of Bremen in the north of the country and in the Lower Saxony state.

Heavy rainfall led to several rivers, such as the Weser, Fuhme, and Forbe, overflowing their banks, resulting in the flooding of agricultural fields and homes.

Farmers in the Netherlands have warned poor weather conditions may affect the potato and sugar beet harvest.
