The National Basketball Association (NBA) has announced a 25-game suspension for Tristan Thompson, a forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers, due to a breach of the league’s drug policy, as confirmed on Tuesday.
Thompson, aged 32, was found to have used the performance-enhancing substances ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033, as revealed in a statement from the NBA.
As a result, Thompson will be absent from the team’s lineup during their upcoming game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.
The Cavaliers organization expressed their full backing of the NBA’s drug prevention efforts and conveyed their disappointment regarding the situation with Tristan Thompson.
The team acknowledged the significant impact his absence will have and expressed their continued support for Thompson during his suspension.
Throughout his suspension, Thompson is permitted to participate in practice sessions and accompany the team during travels. However, on the days of games, whether at home or away, he is allowed to be present in the arena until two hours before the game starts, as per the team’s statement.
Efforts to reach Thompson’s representatives for a comment on Tuesday were unsuccessful.
Thompson, who secured an NBA championship in 2016 during his initial tenure with Cleveland, is also widely recognized for his relationship with Khloé Kardashian, with whom he has two children.
His infidelity issues with Kardashian have been a prominent storyline in the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” series and continued in the family’s recent Hulu series, “The Kardashians.”
In an episode of “The Kardashians” that aired in November, Thompson apologized to Kylie Jenner for the family drama he caused by cheating on her half-sister with her close pal Jordyn Woods.
“That wasn’t right and wasn’t smart, made it tough for you and Khloé because, at the end of the day, you have your best friend and then you have your sister, who you love more than anything else,” Thompson said.
“So it’s 100% on me. I want to say I’m sorry and I feel bad about it. The fact I came with my poor decisions and being a f—ing idiot and just being young and stupid, I want to say I’m sorry again for that.”
