Morocco has foiled an attempt to smuggle massive quantities of drugs from the city of Agadir, according to the official news agency on Sunday.
The agency quoted a statement from the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of National Territory Surveillance, stating that security investigations following intelligence information from the General Directorate of National Territory Surveillance enabled the detection of a fishing boat attempting to smuggle drugs on Sunday morning.
The agency added that 10.5 tons of cannabis were seized, and 13 sailors were arrested on charges of involvement in the smuggling attempt.
The statement emphasized that authorities are working to uncover “possible intersections and connections with other international networks engaged in international drug trafficking and psychotropic substances.”
