Moroccan King Mohammed VI, part of his strong, personal response to the earthquake that struck Morocco on September 08, has made a financial contribution of MAD 1 billion ($100 million) to the special relief fund for the tremor victims, through Al Mada holding, in which the Sovereign is the main shareholder.
The Board of Directors of the “Al Mada” Group, acting upon the monarch’s initiative, has decided to allocate a financial contribution of one billion dirhams to the special fund created for the management of the earthquake’s aftermath.
This generous donation from the “Al Mada” Group underscores the collective responsibility and unity of purpose in addressing this unprecedented natural disaster, as the fund itself was established by royal decree on September 11, 2023, in response to the urgent needs of those affected by the earthquake.
The earthquake, which struck Morocco last Friday, left a devastating impact, claiming the lives of 2,946 individuals, with 2,944 of them laid to rest.
Furthermore, the earthquake left 5,674 people injured, highlighting the immense challenges facing the affected regions.
King Mohammed VI’s generous contribution, administered through the “Al Mada” Group, exemplifies the spirit of solidarity and national unity during times of crisis. It reflects the Moroccan people’s resilience and their ability to stand together in the face of adversity.
