Libyan Army Commander, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, announced on Wednesday the establishment of a comprehensive military city designed for training in all types of weaponry and security sciences.

This expansive facility will cover an area of 5,467 hectares west of Benghazi.

According to Libya’s Al-Wasat portal, the planned military training city is expected to feature a maritime port equipped with modern navigation tools, as well as a military airport, under the management of the security units’ chief of staff.

Field Marshal Haftar praised the chief of staff of the security units, Khalid Haftar, for his supervision over the implementation of this “massive strategic project, which is unprecedented in Libyan and regional history,” as stated by the Libyan Army’s General Command.

Earlier, Balqasim Khalifa Haftar, Director of Libya’s Development and Reconstruction Fund, expressed that Libya is open to collaboration with all parties interested in contributing to the nation’s major development and strategic projects.

Responding to a query from Sputnik about cooperation between Libya and Russia, Balqasim stated, “We welcome all Russian and foreign companies, as well as our brotherly and friendly nations, to contribute to the reconstruction of Libya with their expertise and capabilities.”

He added that Libya looks forward to the participation of specialized foreign companies across various sectors, particularly those focused on infrastructure, roads, bridges, hospital construction, electrical stations, and long-neglected desalination plants requiring urgent upgrades.

“We are open to collaboration with both local and international companies without exception, and we look forward to involving all Libyan companies in the reconstruction efforts, along with other significant and active foreign companies,” he continued.
