The Libyan “Unity” government called on Germany to assist in “lifting the air embargo on Libyan aircraft.” Mohamed Haddad, Chief of Staff of forces loyal to the Unity government, stated on Tuesday evening that he discussed avenues for joint cooperation and enhancing support in training, military, and security consultations with the new British military attaché.
Libya’s Unity government Minister of Transportation, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, discussed the Tripoli International Airport terminal project with Italy’s Ambassador Gianluca Alberini, addressing obstacles to its completion despite the availability of necessary funding. Al-Shahoubi urged the Italian company executing the project to adhere to a fixed deadline for delivery according to the contract, emphasizing the project’s importance for citizens’ travel and air transport between Libya and other countries. He stated there is no justification for the delay and mentioned discussions on the alternative road project, Emssad-Ras Jedir, and its negotiation phases, stressing the need for precise follow-up to fulfill implementation requirements.
Al-Shahoubi also appealed to German Ambassador Ralf Traub for assistance in lifting the air embargo and resuming direct flights between the two countries, discussing the reactivation of bilateral cooperation and the return of German companies to Libya.
Samer Majali, CEO of Royal Jordanian Airlines, announced the resumption of flights to Libya starting September with at least three weekly flights, confirming that the company conducted a security assessment of Libyan airports and routes.
Meanwhile, Musa Al-Koni, a member of the Presidential Council, discussed with Emad Al-Sayeh, Head of the High National Elections Commission, ways to support the electoral process and the Commission’s readiness to conduct municipal council elections. Al-Koni praised the Presidential Council’s efforts in supporting the political process paving the way for elections and commended the Commission’s efforts to ensure the elections’ readiness, highlighting the Council’s support to enhance preparedness for upcoming elections.
House of Representatives Speaker Aqila Saleh received the annual report from the Audit Bureau’s head, Omar Saleh, during a meeting in Al-Qubba city on Tuesday evening. The report included last year’s achievements and the plan for the current year’s report preparation. Saleh praised the Audit Bureau’s efforts in protecting and safeguarding public funds, calling for increased efforts to protect public money from corruption and to hold accountable those responsible, asserting that everyone is subject to the law.
The parallel “Stability” government, led by Osama Hamad, announced that its Acting Foreign Minister, Abdel Hadi Al-Hwaij, discussed enhancing bilateral relations with Liberian President Joseph Boakai on Tuesday evening. They emphasized the importance of security and stability in Libya and mutual cooperation in various fields serving the interests of both nations. The Stability government noted that Al-Hwaij briefed President Boakai on the latest political crisis developments in Libya, the government’s role in reconstruction, and the efficient functioning of state facilities.
