The government appointed by the House of Representatives has announced a proposal to form a trilateral committee involving Libya, Chad, and Egypt to explore the implementation of an international road project linking the three countries.
This announcement was made during meetings held by the ministerial delegation accompanying Prime Minister Osama Hammad on Saturday, during his ongoing visit to the Chadian capital, N’Djamena.
According to a statement by the government on Facebook, Mahmoud Al-Farjani, head of the National Development Authority, spoke about the establishment of a free zone in the city of Sirte and the international seaport there, highlighting its importance as a commercial maritime gateway for Chad and an access point to the Mediterranean Sea.
Al-Farjani also mentioned the development of the Ghardabiya International Airport and the potential launch of a direct flight route between N’Djamena, Benghazi, and Sirte, which was requested and confirmed by the Chadian Minister of Transportation.
The discussions between the two parties also covered the study and implementation of joint projects in the telecommunications sector and the drafting of a memorandum of understanding in the fields of transportation, logistics, and communications to be signed by the two countries.
A joint ministerial meeting was held on Saturday, attended by Libyan Minister of Transportation and Communications Abdelhakim Al-Ghazwi, head of the National Development Authority Mahmoud Al-Farjani, and Prime Minister’s Advisor Salem Al-Sharif.
