A Libyan delegation, led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs in the Transitional National Unity Government, Mohamed Issa, discussed cooperation with Mali on security issues, especially in the field of counterterrorism.
This came on the sidelines of Libya’s participation in a meeting of the African States Alliance, where Issa met with the President of Mali, Assimi Goïta, in the presence of Mali’s Prime Minister, Choguel Maïga.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them, according to a statement published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Facebook.
In a related context, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs met with Mali’s Foreign Minister, Abdullah Diop, at the residence of the Libyan delegation in the Malian capital, Bamako.
Diop stressed the importance of strengthening political ties between the two countries.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs highlighted Mali’s role in the African arena, especially in the Sahel region, emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperation on all levels, especially in the security file, particularly in the fight against terrorism.
According to the statement, Issa expressed his gratitude for Mali’s cooperation with Libya on regional issues, including significant collaboration in the Sahel and Sahara region.
At the end of the meeting, both sides affirmed their commitment to strengthening relations and working to enhance cooperation in various fields, serving the common interests of both countries.
