Osama Hamad, the appointed Prime Minister of Libya, convened a significant meeting with Jean Claude Gakosso, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie, and Congolese Abroad, who currently presides over the African Union (AU) high-level committee on Libyan affairs.

The meeting was held in the presence of several key figures, including Mohammed Labat, the director of the cabinet of the African Union Commission’s president; Guy Cornet Samba, the Congolese ambassador to Libya; Wahida El-Abbari, the African Union Commission’s special representative to Libya; and Brice Nazira Nga Hibara, the technical advisor to the Congolese Foreign Minister.

Also in attendance were Abdelhadi El-Hweij, Libya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Issa Abdul Majid, the State Minister for African Affairs; Saleh Al-Manfi, the Prime Minister’s office director; and Mustafa Al-Mismari, the Secretary-General of the Cabinet.

The meeting focused on several crucial issues, with national reconciliation at the forefront, praising the role of the African Union and the Republic of Congo in seeking a comprehensive solution to the Libyan crisis, particularly the national reconciliation file, which is expected to lay the foundation for a new phase of stability and peace in Libya.

Hamad highlighted the government’s commitment to reconciliation and reconstruction with support from the general command and under the directives of General Khalifa Haftar, the commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

He noted his recent visits to several cities in the southern and southeastern regions, including Murzuq and Kufra, emphasizing the government’s efforts, under the general command’s auspices, to address damages and compensations and to declare reconciliation in these cities and areas.

Additionally, Hamad confirmed his full support for the AU’s efforts in this vital area and for the support of a group of municipalities in the western region, consisting of 67 municipalities.

For his part, the Congolese minister lauded the efforts made by the AU in holding comprehensive meetings with leaders of countries, in order to unify views on the reconciliation file in Libya with all Libyan parties east, west and south.
