The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Libyan House of Representatives has expressed deep regret over the failure of the UN Security Council to adopt a ceasefire resolution in Gaza, considering it part of a series of international betrayals of the Strip’s population. The committee highlighted that the ongoing military operation in Rafah would have negative effects on stability and peace throughout the region.
Emphasizing the need for an immediate halt to Israeli aggression to facilitate humanitarian aid delivery, the committee stressed that the people of Gaza are at serious risk of famine due to severe shortages of food, water, medicine, and fuel. This situation is causing immense suffering and death, particularly among innocent civilians, the majority of whom are children and women.
The committee asserted that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is intolerable and a disgrace to human conscience. It condemned the actions of Israeli occupation forces and their obstruction of humanitarian aid as tantamount to genocide, calling for those responsible to be held accountable. Such actions, it argued, constitute a challenge to the International Court of Justice.
Expressing grave concern over the humanitarian situation in the West Bank due to escalating acts of killing, arrest, and property destruction by Israeli settlers against Palestinians, the committee underscored the urgent need for international intervention to address these violations.
