The third relief plane within the Kuwaiti air bridge to Sudan took off on Tuesday heading to Port Sudan Airport, carrying 10 tons of food supplies to support and aid the internally displaced people in Sudan due to ongoing rains, floods, and conflicts.
Abdulrahman Al-Oun, the Director-General of the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society, stated after the plane’s departure that these aids come in response to the directives of the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and are part of Kuwait’s support for the Sudanese people and their full backing in facing the difficult conditions they are experiencing.
Al-Oun added that the Kuwaiti air bridge for supporting and relieving Sudan also aims to help alleviate shortages in food, shelter, and medicine, in addition to providing necessities that help them survive, especially food, medicine, and shelter.
He explained that the situation in Sudan requires immediate intervention from humanitarian organizations to aid them, emphasizing that the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society has initiated and continues to undertake many initiatives and efforts to support the affected Sudanese.
It is noted that the first planes of the Kuwaiti air bridge for the relief of Sudan started last Wednesday, aiming to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.
Since the outbreak of conflict in Sudan in 2023, Kuwait has been actively involved in providing humanitarian aid to support the affected Sudanese population. Kuwait has established an air bridge to facilitate the delivery of urgent relief and medical supplies. The Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society, supported by the government, has launched multiple aid flights, delivering tons of food, medical supplies, and other necessities to help the displaced and affected individuals in Sudan.
In addition to these efforts, Kuwait has pledged significant financial support to bolster humanitarian initiatives in Sudan and other countries. For instance, Kuwait pledged $6 million to support non-governmental Kuwaiti humanitarian institutions working in Sudan. This funding is part of Kuwait’s broader commitment to international humanitarian efforts, demonstrating its dedication to assisting those in crisis.
Moreover, the Kuwait Red Crescent Society has organized donation campaigns to further support the Sudanese, reflecting a strong commitment from both governmental and non-governmental organizations in Kuwait to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people during this challenging period.
