Jordan’s King Abdullah II held a meeting on Monday with a delegation of members from the U.S. Congress, led by Senator Johnny Ernst.
During the meeting, the latest developments in the region were discussed, along with the friendly and strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States, and mechanisms to enhance these ties.
The meeting was attended, according to the Royal Court’s statement, by Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, the King’s Office Director, Dr. Jafar Hassan, and the U.S. Ambassador to Jordan, Yael Lempert.
Jordan is an area of stability in a sea of unrest. The nation shares borders with Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Israel and Saudi Arabia, and there are perhaps as many as a million refugees from Syria and Iraq taking shelter in the nation. There are also Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan, which swells that number.
