The Jordanian Air Force successfully parachuted humanitarian aid to hundreds trapped in a northern Gaza church, as stated in an official military statement.
This operation was conducted on the eve of Christmas, showcasing a timely gesture of support and care for those in dire need.
Jordan’s Forces executed this aerial relief mission to assist those besieged within Saint Porphyrius Church, located in the Zeitoun neighborhood of northern Gaza.
According to military sources, a plane was deployed to drop humanitarian supplies and food to alleviate the conditions of those trapped inside one of the world’s oldest churches.
Approximately 800 Gazan citizens, primarily Christian residents of the enclave, are estimated to be confined within the church. They are currently facing severe shortages of food and essential life necessities, enduring challenging humanitarian circumstances.
Military sources elaborated that the aid boxes were dropped by parachutes directly over the church, which serves as a haven for Christians and their children amidst the ongoing siege by Israeli forces.
This mission marks the seventh aerial operation carried out by the Jordanian Air Force since the onset of the conflict in Gaza between Israel and Hamas, which began on October 7th. Previous air drops were dedicated to supporting the Jordanian field hospital in the region.
This initiative by the Jordanian military highlights a significant effort to provide crucial assistance to those affected by the ongoing conflict, reaffirming Jordan’s commitment to humanitarian causes and regional stability.
