The Iraqi National Security Advisor, Qasim al-Araji, and the Secretary General of the Turkish National Security Council, Seyfullah Haji Muftioglu, discussed security, water, border control, and cooperation between the two countries in the fight against terrorism.
The media office of the National Security Advisor announced in a statement carried by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji met with the Secretary General of the Turkish National Security Council, Seyfullah Haji Muftioglu, in Ankara.
The statement added that the meeting discussed the latest developments in the political and security situation on the international and regional levels, and ways to strengthen cooperation relations between Baghdad and Ankara on all levels.
It also pointed out that the meeting discussed security, water, and border control issues, as well as cooperation between the two countries in the fight against terrorism and the exchange of information, and stressed the continuation of bilateral cooperation to achieve security and stability in the region.
According to the statement, al-Araji reiterated the Iraqi government’s confirmation that it will not allow Iraqi territory to be used as a launching pad for attacks on any country, especially neighboring countries. He pointed out that “Iraqi-Turkish relations have historical depth, and Iraq seeks to develop them to further horizons, in a way that serves the interests of the two neighboring countries.”
