In a significant move against terrorist activities, Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence announced on Sunday that it had successfully foiled a deadly plan to execute a series of terror attacks in the nation’s capital, Tehran. Several individuals linked to the prohibited extremist group ISIS, recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia and multiple other nations, were detained.
The ministry’s official statement, as cited by Iran’s “Tasnim” news agency, highlighted its success in averting a heinous strategy which aimed to detonate 30 synchronized explosions in densely populated areas of Tehran. “All terrorists involved in this plot have been apprehended,” stated the ministry.
Further elaborating on the objectives behind these attacks, the statement mentioned that they were meticulously planned to undermine Iran’s national security. The intention was to project a deceptive image of instability within the nation, instilling terror and disillusionment among the Iranian community. Such a move would potentially fuel chaos and protests reminiscent of the riots that transpired the previous year.
Recent days saw Iran’s intelligence forces launching coordinated operations in provinces including Tehran, Alborz, and West Azerbaijan. These operations targeted terrorist hubs, resulting in raids of their residences and the subsequent arrest of 28 individuals involved in this expansive terror network.
The detained individuals, as clarified by the ministry, are affiliates of the terrorist group ISIS. Notably, some had formerly allied themselves with extremist militants in Syria or had been present in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
Interestingly, despite their ISIS affiliations, their plotted strategy and behavioral patterns were more technically intricate than conventional extremist streams. Such complexities significantly align with patterns and mechanisms typically associated with the Zionist regime.
It’s worth noting that on July 24th, Iran’s Security Ministry reported the apprehension of members of a major terrorist cell, seizing 43 bombs in the process. Additionally, on August 4th, Iranian security forces detained 10 terrorists who had planned to orchestrate bombings within the nation.
