In a relentless onslaught, Storm Daniel, a deadly tempest that has left devastation in its wake across Libya and the wider North African region, mercilessly pounded the Gaza Strip on the fateful Wednesday of September 13th. As the relentless deluge swept through this besieged coastal enclave of Gaza, several households and thoroughfares in the northern sectors were submerged beneath rising waters, ushering in a harrowing ordeal for its residents.
Over the course of more than seven relentless hours, the Gaza Strip bore the brunt of the tempest’s fury, with unrelenting torrents of heavy rainfall and thunder relentlessly lashing the beleaguered terrain.
The affected populace swiftly took to their social media platforms, sharing a plethora of videos that graphically depicted the heart-wrenching scenes of inundated homes, further amplifying the urgency of the situation.
The Civil Defence, under the administration of Hamas, valiantly sprang into action, revealing that they were summoned to tackle no less than 17 distressing missions. In their statement, they disclosed, “The relentless downpour inundated a minimum of 13 residences, compelling their inhabitants to seek shelter elsewhere.”
Meanwhile, the tempest’s trail of destruction in Libya paints an equally grim narrative. Tragically, thousands of lives have been claimed by this catastrophic event, with countless more souls still unaccounted for, following the unforgiving floods wrought by Storm Daniel last Sunday.
