Over 60 rockets were launched from southern Lebanon towards Israeli sites in the Galilee Panhandle on Sunday evening, according to Hebrew media reports.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (Kan) reported that during the past month alone, 46 alarms were triggered in the town of Metula due to rockets and drones launched from Lebanon.

The recent attack has caused substantial damage in Israeli towns within a 9-kilometer radius of the Lebanon border.

More than 930 buildings have been reported damaged, according to preliminary estimates.

This wave of rockets marks one of the most intense cross-border escalations in recent times, underscoring the fragile security situation along the Israel-Lebanon border.

The border region between Israel and Lebanon has historically been a hotspot for military confrontations.

The last major conflict, the 2006 Lebanon War, saw extensive hostilities between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group.

Despite numerous United Nations resolutions and peacekeeping efforts, sporadic clashes and rocket fire continue to disrupt the relative calm.

Hezbollah, which has a significant presence in southern Lebanon, is often implicated in these attacks.

The group’s extensive arsenal includes rockets and drones, which they have used in past confrontations with Israel. The frequency of these attacks has increased tension and the potential for a broader conflict.

In recent months, the security situation has deteriorated further. The uptick in rocket and drone launches from Lebanon into Israel has led to heightened alertness and readiness among Israeli defense forces.

The Israeli government has reiterated its stance on self-defense and has warned of strong retaliatory measures against any attacks on its territory.

In response to the ongoing threat, Israel has bolstered its defense systems in the northern region, including the deployment of the Iron Dome missile defense system, which intercepts incoming rockets.

However, the sheer volume of recent attacks has put immense pressure on these defense mechanisms, highlighting the need for continued vigilance and preparedness.
