Germany’s Rheinmetall plans to provide Ukraine with a Luna New Generation drone system by the year-end, Bild am Sonntag reported on Sunday.
Bild highlighted that the “Drones Package” consists of a ground control station with several drones, a launch catapult, and military trucks.
The drone system could be used as a reconnaissance system, provide an LTE network, and intercept or jam communications.
On his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked German Chancellor Olaf Schol for the two new Patriot air defense systems recently sent to Ukraine.
“Every enhancement of Ukraine’s air defense saves thousands of lives,” Zelenskyy said.
Kyiv indicated that the US-built Patriot systems are invaluable for Ukraine, adding that they had intercepted Russian hypersonic missiles several times.
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba emphasized the importance of the delivery of German Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine to end the war.
“Ukraine needs Taurus missiles to save more lives of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians and to speed up the liberation of the territories and end the war more quickly,” Kuleba said.
“The formula is simple: a longer range of the missiles means a shorter duration of the war,” he added.
